Evolution

Since I have other things I need to be focusing on -- G3 presentation, experimentation, and getting my current work framed and photographed, this site is no longer a self-portrait of the day thing. I don't have the time to be focusing on the indulgence of self-portraiture right now. This blog has become more of a personal resource in terms of how my art is being informed. I'm also getting sick - rather, bored - with how the blog looks and want something a bit more sophisticated in terms of showing my art - now that I'm getting a collection of work that I actually want to show.

Transfers

Learned how to do a matte medium transfer this weekend, so I'm trying it. Part of the degree criteria is to experiment and I just wanted to see if I could do it. If it works, I will post a picture. Go here to see various way of transferring images onto cloth, paper, etc.

A Fir-Ju Well

Cool psychedelic band

(Jesus! Do I sound like a teenager or what?!) How should a 38 year old mother of a teenager act? I mean I can talk about a plethora of things that are intellectual, but I occasionally resort to using the word "cool" to describe things. I wonder at what age I will start to use the word "pimpin"?

11/10/05 Picture of the Day

Every little thing adds to the whole. Where would I be without deep and occasionally light conversations with friends? A lot of communication today. The Way Life's Meant to Be.

11/3/05 Self Portrait of the Day

I am currently reading Jean Shinoda Bolen's Goddesses in Everywoman. I'm finding that I'm primarily ruled by Athena right now - goddess of wisdom and crafts.

My triumvirate of goddesses goes like this:

Athena: Fosters my intellect

Demeter: Informs me as a mother

Hera: Informs me as a wife

Check it out if you get a sec. :)

D needed a pic for his book. Here's the progression from raw image, increased contrast, grayscale, and antiqued.
