Liz and I saw Joyce Tenneson talk about her work today at CCNE. Tenneson talked a bit about finding a signature style and voice as artists. She said that the only artists that do well in the long run are those that do find their signature style or voice. She also emphasized knowing art history, photo history as well as knowledge of graphic design. She didn't sugar-coat what it takes to be at her level as a photographer - even said that none of her interns or assistants would ever make it like she has because they don't work as hard as she does.
